Aragon Surgical Announces the First U.S. Use of the OS12 Electrosurgical System.

Indicated for Use in Open Abdominal Hysterectomy Procedures

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Aragon Surgical, Inc., a venture backed medical device company, announced today that the first United States cases were performed at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, AZ, by Harry Watters, D.O., FACOG, FACS, FICS, and Charles Boag, D.O. The doctors, from Today's Women's Health of Chandler, were the first gynecologists in the country to use the Aragon Surgical OS12 System for abdominal hysterectomies. The hysterectomy procedures were performed over a period of January 23 to February 2, 2009.

During the open hysterectomy procedure, Dr. Boag utilized the unique OS12 Instrument to seal and divide significant lengths of parametrial tissue for the hysterectomy. "In my experiences (with the OS12 instrument) I averaged 30% OR time savings and a reduction in patient blood loss," said Dr. Boag. Dr. Watters concurred adding, "The OS12's ease of use and minimal training allowed me to immediately incorporate the device into my surgical practice." Aragon Surgical President and CEO, Roseanne Varner, commented, "We are extremely pleased with these initial results of the OS12 system and continue to track operating room (OR) time savings. Aragon Surgical has recently received 510(k) clearance on the Aragon Surgical OS12, its first radiofrequency (RF) surgical product specifically designed for gynecologists for use in open abdominal hysterectomy procedures. Aragon Surgical plans to introduce additional products that utilize their proprietary technology in 2009.
