I was disappointed in Jim David's column in the February 14 issue [Friend or Foe?]. Perhaps he thinks it's funny to make a comment such as "Hmmm, testosterone-fueled gay Arabs: homeland security Noun 1. Homeland Security - the federal department that administers all matters relating to homeland security

 risk or really hot week-end?" But this type of comment is not funny. As a queer transgender transgender or transgendered

Transsexual.
 Arab living in the U.S., I constantly deal with hatred and discrimination. I suppose The Advocate doesn't think that any gay Arabs read the publication and that making such a flippant flip·pant

, especially in our post-9/11 climate. The reality of the situation is that Arabs in this country and within the queer community are viewed as either terrorists or sex objects. Such a racist and objectifying statement in a publication that supposedly promotes social justice is unacceptable.
