Arab family businesses urged to merge.

City (pop., 2001: 143,035), capital of Bahrain. Situated at the northeastern tip of Bahrain island, it is Bahrain's largest city, with about one-fifth of the emirate's population.
 

Arab family businesses should look to merge some of their divisions with other international family businesses if they want to go truly global.

This was the message from a prestigious conference, opened by Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Hassan (häsän`), d. 1894, sultan of Morocco (1873–94). He brought the weak and disorganized country firmly under his control and held in check attempts by European powers at domination.  Fakhro Fakhro or Al Fakhro (فخرو in Arabic} is the family name of an Arab business family located in Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The two-day Arab-German Family Business Summit 2009 opened at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa.

Dr Fakhro pledged Bahrain's continued support for family businesses.

A number of programmes to support them have been mapped out in co-operation with Tamkeen and Bahrain Development Bank, he said.
