Arab aviation plans unified emissions reduction strategy.

The Arab Aviation Summit", Blue Sky, a two-day conference focusing on aviation environmental issues concluded deliberation here today by calling for a unified vision about the Climate Summit ahead of Copenhagen meeting.

The meet, Jordan represented by Director of airport safety in the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority, Salah Al Omoush, urged the Arab delegations taking part in the Copenhagen meeting to ensure that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is the only party through which the environmental issues in the field of international civil aviation can be dealt with.

The aviation industry in the Arab region had come out with a common agenda for the region to press their demands at the upcoming Copenhagen Climate conference.

The meeting brought together representatives from 22 Arab countries to set the agenda for the future of aviation and the environment.

The Arab Aviation Summit' convened to identify their priorities ahead of Copenhagen meeting the target set by the UN in the emission reduction by the global aviation industry by 2020.

Underpinning the aviation industry's commitment to reducing the emission cut, participants assured that the aviation industry has the smallest negative impact on the environment vis- -vis the other transportation modes.

Abdul Aziz Al Noaimi, Chairman, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority said that the development of alternative energy is one of the major tools in its bid to impose a major cut on the emission rate. Qatar has made great headway in the development of alternate fuel.
