Arab Plast 2005--the Middle East's premier trade show for rubber, plastics and plastic processing, held recently at the Dubai Dubai (dbī`), sheikhdom (1995 pop. 674,101), c.1,500 sq mi (3,890 sq km), part of the federation of seven United Arab Emirates, SE Arabia, on the Persian Gulf.  International Exhibition Centre (DIEC DIEC Dubai International Exhibition Centre
DIEC Diccionari de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans (dictionary for Catalan language)
DIEC Defense Item Entry Control
), recorded business deals worth $396m, up 46% compared to $271m in 2003.

Announcing the robust results, Al Fajer Information & Services, organisers of the show, said the record success of the seventh edition of Arab Plast this year is a strong and direct indication of the rising potential of the Middle East's rubber and plastics industry and the increasing contribution of this sector to regional economies. The Middle East is witnessing an expansion in both production capacities as well as consumption levels. It is the world's largest exporter, offloading 80% of its output to international markets.
