Bocian is only the third active coach in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
abbr. National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes ), and only the 27th in college baseball history, to achieve such a feat. He is one of only three coaches in cold-weather states -- where fewer games per year are played -- to reach this milestone. Coach Bocian is in his 28th year as head baseball coach for Aquinas College. At the start of this year's season, his record placed him fifth on the NAIA's list of all-time winningest baseball coaches and third among all active coaches. Under Bocian, Aquinas has won the NAIA State Championship seven times and has finished in second place an additional ten times. The team has earned five Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) is a conference of eight colleges and universities in the U.S. states of Michigan and Indiana. Founded in 1992, the conference was created as a successor group for the now-defunct NAIA District 23. (WHAC) championships since 1992, when the conference was formed. Under his leadership, the Saints baseball program now has achieved at least 30 wins every season for the past 25 consecutive years. The team is ranked 22nd nationally. Thirteen of Bocian's baseball alumni have gone on to sign professional contracts, including Cleveland Indians pitcher Paul Assenmacher and former Detroit Tigers pitcher Dave Gumpert, and more than 75 of his former players have gone on to teach and coach. In addition, 31 Saints have been honored as NAIA All-Americans -- and nine of these also earned Academic All American honors -- during Bocian's tenure. In addition to his role as head baseball coach, Bocian also serves as Aquinas' Athletic Director and is an associate professor of physical education.
