$2M BPA BPA British Paediatric Association.  Contract Awarded to Aquilent for Full Service Web Support to USGS USGS United States Geological Survey (US Department of the Interior)  

LAUREL, Md. -- Aquilent, Inc. announced today the award of a $2M five year, Blanket Purchase Order Contract with United States Geological Survey The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is a scientific agency of the United States government. The scientists of the USGS study the landscape of the United States, its natural resources, and the natural hazards that threaten it.  to provide web development, management and related services.

United States Geological Survey (USGS) is part of the US Department of Interior and serves the nation as the largest water, earth, and biological science and civilian mapping agency. USGS collects, monitors, analyzes, and provides scientific understanding about natural resource conditions, issues, and problems. The USGS Web presence is made up of hundreds of Web sites through which users get USGS information and products, such as maps, aerial photographs, and remote sensing Deriving digital models of an area on the earth. Using special cameras from airplanes or satellites, either the sun's reflections or the earth's temperature is turned into digital maps of the area.  data.

Aquilent's project team will work with the USGS Web team in designing and implementing enhanced Web Presence to support the USGS mission. USGS goals are to improve the visual appeal, usability of content and navigation, dynamic functionality, and breadth of content.

Aquilent will advise USGS about current Web technology and best-practices including design, human factors engineering, usability and accessibility, dynamic content, e-commerce, search engine optimization Designing a Web site so that search engines easily find the pages and index them. The goal is to have your page be in the top 10 results of a search. Optimization includes the choice of words used in the text paragraphs and the placement of those words on the page, both visible and hidden , and implementation of content management solutions.

The initial task orders awarded through this BPA include support for USGS' Marketplace E-Commerce portal and Web analytics strategy development.
