) announced today that it will notify the Securities and Exchange Commission of its intent to seek the permitted 15-day extension and file its year-end financial results on or before April 15, 2003.

This will allow the company and its auditors sufficient time to complete its audited financial statements.

At the time of the 10-K filing, management will hold a conference call to discuss a number of issues, including:

-- Fourth-quarter and year-end results

-- Update on its refinancing

Due to the 10-K filing delay, Aquila will distribute its proxy materials Proxy Materials

Documents regulated by the Securities & Exchange Commission in which a public company outlines its methods and procedures. These documents are used to inform shareholders and solicit votes for corporate decisions, such as the election of directors and other
