Aqueous coating composition.* Patent No. U.S. 6,521,700 B1 Solutia Austria GmbH has been granted a patent for a coating composition comprising a condensation product of a carboxyl carboxyl /car·box·yl/ (kahr-bok´sil) the monovalent radical —COOH, occurring in those organic acids termed carboxylic acids. car·box·yl n. group-containing resin having a Staudinger Index, measured in dimethyl di·meth·yl n. An organic compound, especially ethane, containing two methyl groups. formamide as a solvent, of from 4.0-12 [cm.sup.3]/g, and a hydroxyl group-containing a resin having a Staudinger Index, measured in dimethyl formamide as a solvent of from 8-13 c[m.sup.3]/g, and a curing agent that becomes active only at an elevated temperature of at least 80[degrees]C. The curing agent is comprised of a mixture of mass fractions of from 95-20% of a water-insoluble blocked polyfunctional isocyanate i·so·cy·a·nate n. Any of a family of nitrogenous chemicals that are used in industry and can cause respiratory disorders, especially asthma, if inhaled. and from five to 80% of a hydrophilic hydrophilic /hy·dro·phil·ic/ (-fil´ik) readily absorbing moisture; hygroscopic; having strongly polar groups that readily interact with water. hy·dro·phil·ic adj. blocked a isocyanate. |
