Aquatic education program hits the coast.

California Aquatics Management School 2003 will be held Nov. 18-21 at the Asilomar Conference Center near Monterey. In a time when budgets are being cut and professional training and development can be the first items to go, affordable training opportunities are important, and CAMS 2003 fits that bill. Early bird registration fees range from $375 to $400--and this includes lodging and meals.

The California Aquatics Management School was the brainchild of a group of dedicated Northern California aquatics professionals who identified the need for an educational school targeting aquatics supervisors and coordinators. Their goal was to make this school affordable, educational, to provide unique networking opportunities and to be held annually in their own backyard. The original planning committee, all members of the Bay Area Public Pool Operators Association (BAPPOA), approached the CPRS Aquatics Section to assist by co-sponsoring this school.

One of the many unique aspects of CAMS is that the registration fee includes lodging, meals, educational and networking opportunities and school socials. Also, Asilomar is a retreat-style conference center and there are no phones, computer access or televisions in the rooms. All this combines for a great atmosphere for learning, networking and socializing. This all-inclusive type school attracted 43 participants in 2001 and 65 in 2002.
