) reported today that its Aquarion Management Services, Inc. subsidiary has been awarded a contract with the Sharon Sewer and Water Commission to operate and maintain the Town of Sharon, Connecticut Sharon is a town located in Litchfield County, Connecticut, in the northwest corner of the state. It is bounded on the north by Salisbury, on the east by the Housatonic River, on the south by Kent, and on the west by Dutchess County, New York.  water supply system. The 12-month contract, which includes renewal provisions, becomes effective November 18, 1996.

Under the terms of the agreement, Aquarion Management Services will oversee the operation and maintenance of all existing water supply facilities and will coordinate the start-up of the town's new water filtration plant scheduled for construction completion in 1997. The Sharon Sewer and Water Commission provides water service to 350 customers with an average daily demand of 205,000 gallons per day. The $2.6 million drinking water drinking water

A wholly owned Aquarion subsidiary, Aquarion Management Services provides a fully integrated range of utility management services.

Aquarion Management Services provides water supply contract operations to the Connecticut municipalities of Southington and Weston, and provides billing services for numerous Connecticut wastewater systems.

Aquarion Company is engaged primarily in the supply and protection of public water. Its principal subsidiary, Bridgeport Hydraulic Company, is one of the 10 largest investor-owned water utilities in the U.S. and serves a population of 500,000 in 24 Connecticut communities. Other water-quality-related businesses include environmental testing laboratories and real estate through the sale of surplus water company land. Aquarion also owns a timber processing company.
