Aquamin provides knee pain relief.

New research shows that Marigot's multimineral ingredient, Aquamin, may ease the pain associated with osteoarthritis. A randomized pilot study, published in Nutrition Journal, found that subjects treated with Aquamin demonstrated significant improvements in walking distance, pain and joint mobility. The 50 subjects were given Aquamin (2400 mg/day), glucosamine sulphate (1500 mg/day), a combined glucosamine sulphate and Aquamin treatment or a placebo for 12 weeks. The individual Aquamin group demonstrated improved symptoms during the course of the trial and scored well across the board. The overall result in terms of WOMAC, the measurement system used to evaluate the pain, stiffness and physical function of osteoarthritis sufferers, showed a significant improvement of 14.9% in the Aquamin group. In the 6 minute walking test, the Aquamin group demonstrated an improvement of 101 feet (30.8 m) or 7%.

David O'Leary, commercial director at Marigot, said: "These results are extremely encouraging. We have shown that Aquamin merits further study in the treatment of osteoarthritis and look forward to more in-depth research in the future. We believe that with Aquamin, osteoarthritis sufferers have an all-natural alternative to treat the pain and stiffness caused by the disease and afford them easier day-to-day movement." Aquamin is a natural, multimineral ingredient derived from the red seaweed Lithothamnion corallioides. Rich in calcium, magnesium and 74 other trace minerals, Aquamin can be used in a wide variety of food, beverage and dietary supplement applications. All products in the Aquamin range are 100% natural and suitable for vegetarians and vegans (www.marigot.ie).
