Aqua Pure: First Commercial Unit Completed.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--Aqua Pure (VSE:AQE) -- Aqua Pure Ventures Inc. (the "Company") (AQE/VSE), a supplier of innovative industrial wastewater treatment systems, wishes to announce that construction of their first commercial unit has been completed and that the 53,000 USgal/day Aqua Pure unit is now ready for shipment. The above mentioned unit was constructed by Cord Projects, of Edmonton Alberta, and was completed within budget and with minimal delays.

Due to the decline in heavy oil prices and activity over the past several months, Anadime Corporation ("Anadime") has advised that they are not receiving sufficient produced sand to warrant the installation of the Aqua Pure desalination unit at this time. Since one of the main objectives of the Company is to have the unit operational for other potential clients to view, the directors believe it imperative to find an alternate site immediately. The Company has accepted termination of the lease with Anadime and has reached an agreement in principal with Canadian Environmental Equipment and Engineering Technologies Inc. (CE3) to enter into a lease under similar terms and conditions as the Anadime Lease. Possession date for the above-mentioned unit will be July 1, 1998.

CE3 is an advanced technology corporation providing cost-effective solutions, primarily in the oil and gas industry. One of the CE3's proprietary technologies is the Soil/Sand Washing Process. For production sand, this innovative and effective process surpasses stringent environmental standards while significantly reducing operating costs. The CE3 Soil Washing Technology is capable of remediating soil to agricultural standards, recovering hydrocarbon and reducing environmental liabilities.

CE3 currently have projects pending in Western Canada and Asia. It is anticipated that, based on the performance of the first Aqua Pure unit, there could be a requirement for four additional units over the next 12 months.

The Company has agreed to enter into a non-exclusive marketing agreement with CE3 for marketing of the Aqua Pure units in geographic areas where CE3 is conducting business. CE3 have identified a number of areas where they feel the Aqua Pure technology is applicable. Upon completion of an Agency Agreement, CE3 will be pursuing these other business opportunities.

The Company advises that the private placement of 280,000 common shares at $0.55 per share, which was accepted by the Vancouver Stock Exchange on May 27, 1998, has been successfully completed.
