Aqua Pennsylvania Survives Hurricane Ivan with Minimal Disruption; Only 400 Out of 380,000 Statewide Customers Impacted.

Hurricane Ivan was the strongest hurricane of the 2004 Atlantic hurricane season.

 water systems, which are located in Northampton and Luzerne counties, lost service on Saturday morning as a result of power failures caused by flooding. Thanks to Aqua's crews and the availability of its emergency generation systems, Christian Springs customers were back in service by Saturday evening and the remainder of the systems were up and running by Monday afternoon.

"Hurricane Ivan caused much devastation throughout the state and luckily, we faced few operational issues as a result of the storm," said Karl Kyriss, President of Aqua Pennsylvania. "We were pleased that we were able to continue to provide water service to the majority of our customers and restore service to those who lost it relatively quickly."

Aqua Pennsylvania services approximately 1.3 million residents in more than 20 counties throughout Pennsylvania.
