"National Drinking Water Week is the perfect opportunity for us to educate our customers on the value of clean drinking water," said company President Karl Kyriss. Below are some story ideas from Aqua Pennsylvania:

-- Watershed Protection The term watershed refers to an area of land that drains precipitation that falls on it to a common point. These points could be streams, lakes, etc. Precipitatoin falling on any part of a watershed can travel quickly on the surface of the land, known as surface runoff, or travel through . Aqua Pennsylvania's environmental

in repairs to pipes, tanks, valves and treatment plants over

the next 20 years to provide customers with clean, and

reliable service. This year Aqua Pennsylvania will spend $100

million this year on infrastructure improvements. Watch as

crews complete one of the company's largest main replacement

projects this year: the replacement of 9,500 feet of

Delaware and Montgomery counties with new 12-inch ductile iron Ductile iron, also called ductile cast iron or nodular cast iron, is a type of cast iron invented in 1943 by Keith Millis[1]. While most varieties of cast iron are brittle, ductile iron is much more ductile, as the name implies.

-- Distribution System Maintenance. Join an Aqua Pennsylvania

maintenance crew and experience first-hand what it's like to

locate and repair a broken water main. Did you know that

workers use special instruments to listen for the sound of

leaking water to pinpoint the location of main breaks and

other non-surfacing leaks? Help a crew install a fire hydrant

or exchange a pipe valve.

-- Fire hydrant maintenance. Join an Aqua Pennsylvania

distribution operator as he tests a fire hydrant for proper

operation. Did you know that fire hydrants are owned and

maintained by the water company? Aqua Pennsylvania has more

than 18,000 fire hydrants throughout its service territory.
