Aptuit Appoints Michael J. Butler Ph.D. President, Scientific Operations; The combination of Scientific Excellence, Business Process Improvement and Customer Objectives will Further Establish Aptuit as a Leader in the Drug Development Services Industry.

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Aptuit, Inc. announced today that Dr. Michael J. Butler has been appointed President, Scientific Operations of its rapidly growing drug development services offering. Dr. Butler brings to Aptuit 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug development, most recently as Group Vice President, Early Clinical and Bioanalytical and Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development at MDS Pharma Services where he led multi-site operations as well as oversaw strategic alignment of the largest segments of the company's $378M global operations. Dr. Butler will assume responsibility for all of Aptuit's scientific operations which span Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Development (API), Preclinical Technologies, Analytics, and Pharmaceutics, which together have a complement of over 875 scientists and technical staff in Kansas City, Missouri and Edinburgh, Scotland.

The company is furthering its vision to engineer a better drug development process by pursuing API opportunities, expanding its employee base to include talented personnel in India and Asia, and hiring additional industry experts for Aptuit Consulting to provide customers with horizontal and experienced management across projects. As President, Scientific Operations, Dr. Butler will directly oversee Aptuit's scientific development services and work to accomplish seamless integration of the company's knowledge pool and resources.

Prior to MDS, Dr. Butler was the former Group Director, Business Development and Director, Pharmaceutical Business Development for Huntingdon Life Sciences, where he expanded the customer base and managed the market development of all businesses globally. In addition, he was the Director, Customer Service at Lockheed Environmental Systems and Technology Company and Head of Department, Corning Enseco Incorporated. He also held multiple positions as a bench scientist in the U.S. and the UK.

Dr. Butler earned a Ph.D. from Liverpool University and a B.Sc. degree from Herriot Watt University.
