BURBANK, Calif. -- Aptiv Digital Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMST), and a leading provider of interactive applications for digital television, today announced an exciting new line of products and product advancements showcased at booth #2459 of The Cable Show (NCTA).

Aptiv Digital will unveil brand new versions of Passport[R], Passport DCT[TM], and Passport Echo[R]. The new IPG versions set the stage for a host of exciting new cross-platform applications designed to provide advanced services and raise the profile of any cable system. The new applications include ShowRunner Video-On-Demand, Venue, Interactive Video Mosaic, Harvest, Bill View, Caller ID, and Front Door. Aptiv will also demonstrate Passport Echo OCAP operating with many of the leading OCAP stack and set-top providers.

* ShowRunner VOD Launched originally on the SA platform over four years ago, ShowRunner VOD is now available as a fully integrated Video On-Demand solution for the Motorola platform to complete the cross-platform offering of the product as a seamless, highly-scalable on demand solution for Passport, Passport DCT, and Passport Echo. Video On Demand (VOD) is a client application that is headend configurable for a variety of impulse-based services such as single offer, free on demand, video on demand, and subscription on demand (SVOD). Designed with a biaxial interface, genres or categories are menu scrollable on the horizontal plane displaying vertically scrollable and selectable titles. The menu's intuitive nature easily walks a viewer through the on demand selection and purchase process. The Video On Demand interface is also hierarchical with super-categories, libraries, and feature channels that are configurable as virtual channels accessible directly or through the Interactive Program Guide.

* Venue Originally launched over four years ago along with ShowRunner VOD on the SA platform, Venue has been upgraded and re-launched for cross-platform compatibility. Venue is a configurable template for creating custom multileveled On-Demand applications. Multiple Venues can be seamlessly linked to create hierarchical on demand menus. Each Venue screen in the navigational hierarchy can be configured to display a single category of listings and the return path to previous Venue levels. Combining Venue's interconnectivity with Video On Demand's architecture, MPEG stills, and video streaming creates a powerful, customizable, and intuitive hierarchical interface, seamlessly linking any navigational, informational, or revenue generating services. Optionally, Venue can be configured with a biaxial interface including horizontally scrollable categories displaying vertically scrollable and selectable listings. In this configuration, Venue can be set as the default power-on channel to promote premium channels and to help guide subscribers to the most popular services. Enrich the subscriber's interactive experience while driving revenue with Venue.

* Interactive Video Mosaic Having recently launched as a product for the Passport DCT platform, Mosaic will now be available in the next versions of Passport and Passport Echo for the SA platform. Mosaic is a multi-channel, multi-video-pane showcase and navigator for promoting, viewing, recording, and purchasing premium content. It provides cable operators with customizable or template-based video venues to display multiple thumbnail video streams on one channel. Video Mosaic enables viewers to watch multiple scaled video streams on a single channel, listen to the individual audio feeds by highlighting the video panes, or launch services by selecting the video panes. In addition, more information about the programs can be displayed by pressing the 'Info' button, and programs can be recorded directly from the Interactive Video Mosaic when viewed with Passport Echo on a DVR set-top. MSOs can also drive revenue with Interactive Video Mosaic by streaming preview clips of premium services and linking to Aptiv's iSubscribe[TM] impulse subscription application.

* Harvest is a viewership data collection tool that enables cable operators to track how subscribers are utilizing their cable services. Harvest protects the anonymity and privacy of the subscriber by logging set-top usage without specific subscriber information. Because the usage data is available on demand, cable operators will be able to make critical programming and advertising decisions based on real-time data. A basic daily report generated from the collection of logs is included within Harvest as well as daily raw database files for advanced data mining. Harvest is available for Passport, Passport DCT, and Passport Echo.

* Bill View promotes the value of bundled packages while enabling the subscriber to have online access to their billing information. Data configurable, Bill View can display bundled packages on screen that reinforces the net savings to the subscriber, improving customer satisfaction, and reducing calls regarding statement increases. Bill View is available for Passport, Passport DCT and Passport Echo.

* Caller ID Having been available with Passport and Passport Echo on the SA platform for over five years, Caller ID has now been ported to the Passport DCT and Passport Echo applications for the Motorola platform, and is compatible with any back-end Caller ID solution. When the phone rings, Caller ID displays a banner at the bottom of the screen with the phone number, optional line number, and name of the incoming caller. The viewer can also display a call history of up to four phone lines by accessing the Caller ID preference in the Settings Menu.

* Front Door is the perfect operational tool to simplify the installation and management of Aptiv's new set of advanced applications. Front Door is a server based, application management portal providing both scalability and customization of regional application deployment. Engineered to reduce hardware and maintenance overhead, MSOs can customize application deployment on a region-by-region or headend-by-headend basis for the entire system from one Front Door server. Front Door is enabled with administrative security and is easily accessed from an internet browser on any networked authorized and internet ready PC. With a faster learning curve than a command line interface, the intuitive management console provides for the installation, configuration, and removal of a variety of Aptiv applications.
