Convectis uses patented Content Mining technology to automatically analyze and categorize high-volume streams of documents. This approach frees human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees.  for higher-level tasks and scales cost-effectively with increasing information flow.

"Convectis categorizes documents with human-like accuracy, but with a huge increase in throughput," said John Gaffney John H. Gaffney (June 29 1855 - August 8 1913), nicknamed the "King of Umpires" and "Honest John", was an American umpire and manager in Major League Baseball. He was baseball's first great umpire, and played a pioneering role in the use of multiple umpires in baseball games. , Aptex director of marketing. "This is a real paradigm shift A dramatic change in methodology or practice. It often refers to a major change in thinking and planning, which ultimately changes the way projects are implemented. For example, accessing applications and data from the Web instead of from local servers is a paradigm shift. See paradigm.  -- you can analyze every newswire article and every Web page out there. Our customers are doing this today."

New features in Convectis 2.0 include options for document summarization and keyword extraction, increased neural network neural network or neural computing, computer architecture modeled upon the human brain's interconnected system of neurons. Neural networks imitate the brain's ability to sort out patterns and learn from trial and error, discerning and extracting  learning speed and support for up to 250 simultaneous client or server connections. Convectis is also now available for the Sun Solaris operating system operating system (OS)

Convectis integrates easily with Web servers, e-mail systems and newsfeeds. Any combination of original and Convectis-generated information can be published on-line, dispatched to interested users or stored in data warehouses. Convectis categories can also be used to select automated responses to customer e-mails and Web response forms.

Infoseek Corp., a leading Web search service, employs the Convectis server as an "automated librarian" to categorize and summarize Web pages into the more than 4,500 categories in Infoseek's Guide directory. Convectis allows Infoseek Guide to scale up with the growth of the World Wide Web.

"The performance of Infoseek state-of-the-art scaleable search technology is enhanced by Aptex's state-of-the-art neural network technologies," said Robin Johnson Robin Johnson (born May 24, 1964), is an American actress.

Johnson grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York City. One day when she was 15, sneaking a KOOL on the steps of Brooklyn Technical High School, a man (who has never since been identified) came up to her, told her

"Our relationship with HNC and Aptex is a central component of our strategy to provide consumers access to the most relevant actionable information available and tailoring that information to the consumers' individual needs."

Information provider Intell.Xx of Arlington, Va., deployed Convectis in July 1995 to segment news articles and reports into industry-specific personal newsfeeds. Convectis now analyzes up to 50,000 Intell.Xx documents daily into more than 150 categories.

"Intell.Xx conducted an extensive search and trial of the top filtering technologies to fulfill our product strategy," said Catherine H. Michela, Intell.Xx senior vice president of marketing. "We believe that the Aptex technology we selected is truly the premier artificial intelligence engine available to meet this need."

Convectis intelligently assigns documents to multiple categories, improving user access and easing integration with existing categorization schemes. Convectis also eliminates the need for external knowledge bases. By learning word relationships directly from unstructured text, Convectis avoids the update and maintenance problems associated with dictionaries, thesauri and complex queries.
