Apriva's Multi Protocol Gateway Receives Authority to Operate By DISA To Support Classified & Unclassified Data Routing.SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Apriva[R], the leader in high-security wireless solutions for the electronic payments and mobile messaging markets, announced today that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has received an Authority to Operate (ATO) the Multi Carrier Entry Point (MCEP) which will support a new generation of handheld devices certified for up to Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) data traffic. DISA awarded a contract to license Apriva's Multi Protocol Gateway (MPG[TM]) infrastructure. The Apriva MPG intelligently routes traffic among multiple domains and enclaves without ever storing or queuing messages the way a traditional Network Operation Center (NOC) does, and never co-mingles authorized user's traffic with traffic outside of the enterprise's control. This private-MPG (PMPG[TM]) is what DISA officials call the MCEP. DISA's MCEP supports the National Security Agency's (NSA) Secure Mobile Environment Portable Electronic Device (SME PED) project. SME PEDs allow for multi-domain wireless access to both unclassified and classified government networks via the MCEP. The DISA MCEP will be supporting both versions of the SME PED - the Sectera Edge from General Dynamics C4 Systems, and the Guardian from L-3 Communications. The multi-domain SME PEDs, which also support up to top secret voice, will leverage the client/server architecture of Apriva's Sensa[R] secure mobile email application. DISA will use the MCEP for mission-critical gateway traffic routing of classified and unclassified data without having to upgrade each customer enclave. From an email standpoint, Sensa offers a uniformed secure messaging framework to support classified and unclassified users alike. From a network standpoint, the MCEP increases security, and increases the ease of deployment, reliability, and manageability of future data applications. The MCEP provides DISA direct command and control of the critical messaging infrastructure traditionally controlled by 3rd-party vendors. "Apriva's ability to license PMPG infrastructure changes the paradigm available to security conscious enterprises looking to leverage PKI-based authentication solutions. A PMPG from Apriva enables the enterprise to control their own destiny; the enterprise determines who rides on the network and the amount of redundancy, load distribution, and failover associated with its management," commented Chris Spinella, CEO of Apriva. "We are pleased that DISA is leading the way in managing network access and its associated security of wireless messaging needs. Apriva values its role in these high-security programs for the U.S. government and any authorized entity using SME PEDs. We also look forward to the opportunity of working with the commercial market as they take command of their messaging infrastructure and the critical and often confidential traffic that flows over it. When industry leverages advanced levels of PKI security, while using commercially available devices and Smart Card Readers, Apriva's PMPG and Sensa infrastructure will provide them with the security and control they desire." About Apriva: Founded in 1999, Apriva is the leading wireless solutions provider integrating the hardware, software, and network infrastructure required to develop and deploy high-performance, high-reliability solutions from end-to-end in the point of sale (POS) and secure mobile messaging markets. Apriva - Proving the Possibilities. About Sensa Secure Mobile Email Architecture: Apriva's Sensa secure mobile email system is a client/server encrypted messaging application with a device and digital network agnostic architecture. Sensa provides PKI S/MIME email, including attachment encryption, full data-at-rest protection, and compliance with relevant protection profiles for Windows Mobile OS devices. Sensa works with hard-token Smart Card Readers, or via soft-token certificates. Apriva's SensaGuard[TM], along with SensaVault[TM], authenticates, stores, and encrypts all data-at-rest on the device. Sensa's AES 256 encrypted messaging, data sync, and PIM databases are fully synchronizing all messaging transactions, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes tying directly back to the customer's enclave and Microsoft Exchange server environment though Apriva's Multi Protocol Gateway (MPG) infrastructure. The Apriva MPG intelligently routes traffic among multiple domains and enclaves without ever storing or queuing messages the way a traditional Network Operation Center (NOC) does and never co-mingles authorized user's traffic with traffic outside of the enterprises control.
