April program celebrates: 50th anniversary of USF.

What's the best way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of USF? How about 60 minutes of historical retrospective, including archival photos and film, interviews with community and university leaders, and the impact of the university on the Tampa Bay area and Florida? That's what WUSF viewers have in store this April, when WUSF airs Green & Gold: A Half-Century of USF.

"Green & Gold tells the story of the University of South Florida by examining the people, politics and events that made USF what it is today," says Diane Egner, Content Director of WUSF Public Broadcasting.

Those interviewed for the anniversary show include USF President Judy Genshaft, former President Betty Castor, former Congressman Sam Gibbons, former Florida House Speaker Terrell Sessums, Tampa Mayor Pam lorio and others who have made significant contributions to USF through the years.

The show was produced by independent producer and USF graduate Martha Bone. She has produced more than 30 science documentaries for public television, including the award-winning Superbugs: The Killer Viruses and Search for the U.S.S. Maine.

Viewers will have an opportunity to purchase a DVD of the program, either alone or as part of a package with a commemorative USF 50th Anniversary pictorial coffee-table book through the USF Alumni Association.
