ChartOne(TM), Inc., announced that corporate compliance officer April Robertson, MPA, RHIA, RHIT, CHP, has been elected president of the California Health Information Association (CHIA). A Component State Association of the American Health Information Association (AHIMA), CHIA is a nonprofit association that provides leadership, education, resources, and advocacy for California's health information management professionals.

Robertson will be inducted at the annual state convention and exhibit this week in Sacramento. In her new role as president, a term that will last one year, she will lead CHIA's efforts to support quality patient care through the pursuit of excellence in health information management practice. In addition, she will serve as first delegate to the 2003 national American Healthcare Information Management Association (AHIMA) House of Delegates, to meet in Minneapolis.

According to Dr. Barbara Odom-Wesley, immediate past president of AHIMA, "April Robertson is a nationally recognized expert and speaker on health information management issues who has volunteered for her professional organization at the state level for over 20 years. Most recently, she served on AHIMA's Ambassadors Committee planning for the 14th quadrennial Congress of the International Federation of Heath Record Organizations (IFHRO). I am confident that the leadership she will provide as CHIA president will contribute to a very successful year."

Before joining ChartOne, Robertson was a health information management director for a number of California healthcare organizations, including the Golden Gate Service Area of Kaiser Permanente, and she served as vice president of ambulatory services for QuadraMed, a healthcare information technology company. A certified Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Robertson recently earned AHIMA's Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHP) designation for health information management professionals.
