Apptis Tapped to Provide IT Services for Department of Defense (DoD) Uniformed Services Family Health Plan (USFHP).

CHANTILLY, Va. -- Apptis, Inc., a leading provider of IT and communications services to the federal marketplace, today announced it has been awarded the recompete of the $21 million contract, to support all six Designated Providers (DPs) of the Uniformed Services Family Health Plan (USFHP). Apptis has been the incumbent on this contract for the last 3 years where it leads a development team that redesigned and deployed a data processing application in support of USFHP and the TRICARE Management Activity. Under the new contract Apptis will continue to lead the development and deployment of additional functionality for the next 5 years if all option periods are exercised. Located across the US, DP's are facilities specifically contracted by the US Department of Defense (DoD) to provide care to USFHP beneficiaries - active duty family members and all military retirees and their eligible family members.

Under the terms of the agreement, Apptis will act as the prime contractor and receive support from two key and highly recognized subprime contractors DefenseWeb Technologies, Inc., who will continue to enhance and host the Web portal, and Ingenix, who will continue to provide data mining and analysis services. The team will collect monthly data from the DP's and interface with the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), a database used for validating and maintaining information necessary to determine eligibility for payments for those entitled to military healthcare benefits including TRICARE, and TRICARE For Life, the health care programs serving eligible beneficiaries, to include military retirees, their families and survivors worldwide.

"We have the utmost respect for the work that the DPs carry-out, and share their commitment to providing our armed forces and their families with the best health care support and service available," said Russ Sanford, Vice President, Military Health Systems for Apptis. "The DPs administer a billion-dollar health care program for approximately 100,000 enrolled members. We realize the support we provide the DPs directly impacts the daily lives of thousands of Americans."

Each DP requires a separate contract with TRICARE Management Activity to deliver USFHP benefits, creating a unique healthcare delivery environment that calls for the simultaneous management of several sets of distinct and challenging data support requirements. Apptis will provide program management, data reporting and analysis, quality assurance and pharmacy audit support for each DP.

"Our system is comprehensive and specifically built for this contract. It reconciles enrollment and payment and provides monthly reporting to both the DPs and the government. The government uses the data to establish capitation rates and validate enrollment and workload for the DPs," said Jennifer Brown, Program Manager for Apptis. "We've implemented a superior technical solution that required us to harness the functional, operational and technical knowledge of the six DPs and TRICARE Operations. This undertaking called for a very high continuity of operations and unparalleled subject matter expertise, and Apptis was able to meet and exceed these expectations."
