Charlie Harter, President and COO of AppsMall.com, SpeedWork provides users with a low cost and easily-implemented way to manage their projects in a powerful and logical manner.

"We're convinced that SpeedWork represents a genuinely unique alternative to conventional project management that often seems too complex and difficult for most people," he says. "It adds a lot of immediate value within a workgroup environment, especially one that takes advantage of the powerful messaging capabilities in Notes and Domino. We also think our customers can really benefit from the ways in which SpeedWork enables them to integrate contractors and others into their internal projects and work processes."

SpeedWork combines the task-oriented strengths of project management software with the team-based interaction of workgroup collaboration applications while eliminating the drawbacks of both. It enables people to manage their work through task portals, a methodology that deploys an intuitive, task-oriented architecture based on the dynamic nature of work processes rather than the arbitrary constraints CONSTRAINTS - A language for solving constraints using value inference.

of conventional project structures. Instead of simply locking the project details onto individuals, it puts individuals in command of the work process itself; everything a user needs to know to accomplish a specific task is attached to a specific task-document.

The recent decision by AppsMall.com expands the SpeedWork presence within its product offerings, which began with an agreement to carry the application starting in July 2000.

"In effect, AppsMall.com is now validating all the things we've been hearing as our customer base catches on to what SpeedWork can really do for them," says Tom Witkin, president of The SpeedWork Company. "The operative concept at work here is simplicity; most users quickly see the power and potential of SpeedWork. It literally opens up a new way for them to get things done, and they typically respond by coming up with new...and sometimes surprising...applications for it."

Priced from $89.95 to $149.95, depending on the number of licenses, SpeedWork runs on Lotus Notes Messaging and groupware software from IBM Lotus that was introduced in 1989 for OS/2 and later expanded to Windows, Mac, Unix, NetWare, AS/400 and S/390. Notes provides e-mail, document sharing, workflow, group discussions and calendaring and scheduling.  and Domino and requires no server fees, making it genuinely affordable for companies looking to roll out workgroup projects on multiple servers. For Notes client access, SpeedWork requires Lotus Notes, while Web access requires Domino Server v4.6 or higher on the server end and MS Internet Explorer Microsoft's Web browser, which comes with Windows starting with Windows 98. Commonly called "IE," versions for Mac and Unix are also available. Internet Explorer is the most widely used Web browser on the market. It has also been the browser engine in AOL's Internet access software.  v4.0 or higher or Netscape v4.06 or higher on the client end. SpeedWork is Notes R5 compliant and features time log exports to QuickBooks Pro.
