The award was open to all Fire & Rescue Service fleet engineer apprentices and is designed to celebrate the achievements of exceptional students.

Liam, who is based with the West Midlands Fire & Rescue Service Fleet Engineers, was presented with the prestigious award by the Fire Fighting Vehicle Manufacturers Association at the Liverpool Echo Arena Liverpool Echo Arena is the Arena half of ACC Liverpool currently being built on the Liverpool waterfront and scheduled to open in January 2008.[1] .

Liam, aged 19, was nominated for the Apprentice of the Year title by the West Midlands Fire Service The West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) is the statutory fire and rescue service responsible for fire protection, prevention, intervention and emergency rescue in the West Midlands county in England.  and Walsall College Partnership, based on the high standard of work, academic achievement and technical skills displayed.
