Appreciation shown for Fashion District.The Fashion Center Business Improvement District has received a Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Trade from the United States Department of Commerce The United States Department of Commerce is the Cabinet department of the United States government concerned with promoting economic growth. It was originally created as the United States Department of Commerce and Labor on February 14, 1903. (USDOC USDOC United States Department of Commerce ) for its extensive efforts to promote New York's fashion industry around the world. The award was presented by USDOC Senior International Trade Specialist Anastasia Xenias during the Fashion Center BID's tenth annual membership meeting held on April 21. The Certificate of Appreciation is presented to non-profit organizations and industry associations throughout the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. who have demonstrated special dedication and proven results in promoting international business for US firms. It is one of only two honors awarded by the USDOC to business organizations. The Fashion Center BID was nominated by the USDOC for its Information Services See Information Systems. program, established in 1994, to promote local apparel businesses and increase their competitiveness. "The Fashion Center BID has made significant contributions to facilitating business for firms located in NYC's garment district The Garment District is a store in Cambridge, MA and is well known for its Dollar-A-Pound clothing store. The Garment District started out as an offshoot of Harbor Textiles, a textile company which produced wiping cloths for industry that began in the late 1940s. ," said Anastasia Xenias, the Senior International Trade Specialist at the USDOC. |
