Upgrade Enables Anyone to Participate in the Redaction Workflow, Using Nothing More Than the Free Adobe Acrobat(R) Reader and Virtually Any Windows Printer

Appligent Inc. (www.appligent.com), the leading provider of server-based Portable Document Format (PDF)-related software solutions, today announces the release of Redax 3.6, an upgrade to the company's industry-leading solution for redacting or removing sensitive text and images from PDF documents. With Redax 3.6, Appligent has eliminated the need for all the users within a workflow to have the Redax plug-in installed in order to view marked-up content prior to redaction. Instead, users can simply open, view and print this marked-up content using the free Adobe Acrobat(R) Reader software already installed in their Windows or Macintosh PC.

Redax 3.6, the newest member of Appligent's Redaction Family of products, can mark-up documents and insert the codes used by government and legal professionals to indicate reasons for redaction, then save and share the documents as native PDF files that can be viewed and printed by anyone and everyone along the redaction workflow, using nothing more than the free, industry-standard Adobe Acrobat(R) Reader software.

For example, professionals marking up documents in a Freedom of Information Act office might need to pass those documents to a supervisor working without the Redax plug-in. Or, an attorney might mark-up sensitive text and images in a document and need to share that edited document prior to redaction with a judge who does not have access to Redax. With this innovative new Redax 3.6 release, government and legal professionals along the redaction workflow can enjoy a truly effortless way to identify, mark-up, review and--ultimately--completely eliminate sensitive or private information from PDF files.

In addition to eliminating the need for each user to install a plug-in, Redax 3.6 adds complete support for virtually all B&W and color printers compatible with Microsoft Windows. Adobe PostScript(TM) printers continue to be fully supported in this release. Users can now easily print marked-up documents for off-line review and notation.

Documents created by Redax 3.6 can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat Professional versions 5 and 6. All versions of Microsoft Windows NT and above are supported.

Appligent announces the release of Redax 3.6 at the 28th annual FOSE government IT trade show, taking place this week at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. Appligent is demonstrating Redax 3.6 and its Redaction Family in booth #1103.
