Applied Signal Technology, Inc. Wins Contract to Provide Advanced DSP Hardware and Software On the JSAF Highband Subsystem Program.

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 1998--Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:APSG) announced today that it has been awarded a subcontract for $3.1 million from TRW, Incorporated, to participate in the Joint SIGINT Avionics Family (JSAF) Highband Subsystem (HBSS).

Under the terms of the subcontract, Applied Signal Technology will be part of a team headed by TRW to design and build the Highband Subsystem Development Unit (HBSS DU) which will meet the new Joint Airborne SIGINT Architecture (JASA) standards. Applied Signal Technology will also support the integration of the development unit.

The Highband Subsystem will provide signal intelligence and geolocation capability for U.S. airborne reconnaissance platforms. The system will meet several modern SIGINT challenges and provide an open architecture that facilitates upgrades against future threats.
