Applied Power Announces Contract Cancellation.


MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1998--Applied Power Inc. ("APW APW All Pro Wrestling

") announced today the cancellation of a new product development contract within its Engineered Solutions segment. This cancellation will result in a one-time charge of $4.7 million, or $0.12 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 1999. The majority of these development costs were incurred previous to fiscal 1999 and there is no impact on sales in fiscal 1999 due to this cancellation. Applied Power is currently in discussions with the customer to reach a settlement on APW's investment in this program.
