SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 2002

Applied Molecular Evolution, Inc. (AME See AIT. ) (Nasdaq: AMEV AMEV Armored Medical Evacuation Vehicle ) today announced that it has achieved an initial milestone in its collaboration with Chiron Corporation Chiron Corporation was a multinational biotechnology firm based in Emeryville, California that was acquired by Novartis International AG on April 20 2006. It had offices and facilities in eighteen countries on five continents.  to optimize a non-antibody biotherapeutic candidate. Financial terms of the milestone were not disclosed.
