Benoit, 37, has been appointed vice president marketing and sales, responsible for the company's medical food ingredients business.

Benoit was recently vice president, marketing for Calgene Fresh Inc., the company that introduced the world's first genetically modified whole food -- the FLAVR SAVR(TM) Tomato.

"We are extremely pleased to have identified an executive of Steve Benoit's quality for this important addition to our senior management team," said Fredric D. Price, president and chief executive officer, who noted that the new vice president will report directly to him.

"His proven business development skills, strong strategic perspective and experience managing in both an ongoing operation and an entrepreneurial environment are expected to contribute greatly toward achieving our growth plans."

Benoit's responsibilities will include worldwide sales, marketing, and planning activities for AMBI's medical food ingredients business, as well as the company's other non-drug products. "This is truly a unique opportunity to build an important and highly profitable medical foods business," Benoit said.

Serving as a member of Calgene Fresh's executive management team, he was responsible for creating the product concept, developing and implementing the MacGregor's(R) Tomatoes consumer brand and sales promotion strategies. He also served as the company's national spokesperson and made numerous presentations to Congressional, trade and consumer audiences.
