Applied Materials to Significantly Expand its Fab-Wide Software Solutions with Acquisition of Brooks Software.

Brooks Software is a leading provider of factory management and control software to the semiconductor and flat panel display A thin display screen for computer and TV usage. The first flat panels appeared on laptop computers in the mid-1980s, and the LCD technology became the standard. Stand-alone LCD screens became available for desktop computers in the mid-1990s and exceeded sales of CRTs for the first time  industries. After the close of this transaction, the Brooks Software business and employees will be integrated within the Applied Global Services organization. Applied's current factory control software portfolio includes its FAB300[R], NeXus([TM])and WorkStream([R])products, which have been successfully developed with industry-leading customers and are being used in fabs around the world.
