BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2000

Medea's Acclaimed VideoRaid Disk Arrays Provide an

Affordable, High-Capacity Storage Solution for Multiple

or Large Video Projects

Medea Corp., the price/performance leader in digital video storage subsystems The part of a computer system that provides the storage. It includes the controller and disk drives. See storage system. , today announced that its low-cost, high-capacity VideoRaid(TM) scsi storage subsystems are recommended for use with Applied Magic's new ScreenPlay real-time video production appliance.

Providing video editors with capacities of 26 GB to 150 GB at prices as low as $23 per GB, VideoRaid scsi delivers an affordable storage solution for creating multiple or very large video projects. For example, the 26 GB VideoRaid provides two hours of DV video and just under three hours of S-VHS (Super-VHS) A VHS recording and playback system that increased resolution from 240 to 400 lines and used a higher-quality cassette. S-VHS introduced the S-video interface, which separated the luma from the color (see S-video).  video, while the 150 GB array provides more than 11 hours of DV video and 17 hours of S-VHS video.

Unlike single SCSI drives or other RAID arrays that suffer a 40 percent drop in the data rate as they fill with video, VideoRaid sustains high data rates from the first gigabyte of storage to the last gigabyte, thanks to Medea's proprietary Zone Strip Technology (ZST ZST Zone Standard Time
ZST Zeta Sedimentation Rate
ZST Zinc Sulfide Tracer
).

&uot;VideoRaid scsi is reliable, affordable, offers the capacities needed for long-format video projects and it's easy to set up and use with ScreenPlay,&uot; said Kevin Mosher A mosher is a person who is crossed between goth/punk/skater they have long hair and listen to music like slipknot and metal music. Some people call them headbangers. The four-drive VideoRaid scsi arrays offer up to 150 GB of storage and an impressive 36 MB/second data rate, while the two-drive versions of VideoRaid scsi offer up to 75 GB of storage and sustain an 18 MB/second data rate for less demanding digital video applications.

VideoRaid subsystems connect directly into ScreenPlay's SCSI port and is automatically recognized and formatted to provide trouble-free, plug-and-play operation.

&uot;ScreenPlay's advanced Wavelet (mathematics) wavelet - A waveform that is bounded in both frequency and duration. Wavelet tranforms provide an alternative to more traditional Fourier transforms used for analysing waveforms, e.g. sound.  technology and real-time capabilities combined with an easy-to-use interface, make it a true video appliance,&uot; said Roger Mabon, director of marketing at Medea Corp. &uot;We're thrilled to be working with Applied Magic to provide their users with affordable, high-capacity storage.&uot;

With ScreenPlay's real-time features users can:
