Applied Innovation Management Introduces "The Bug/Defect Tracking Expert 5.0".

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 1998--

The first web-based bug/defect tracking system connects developers and managers across multiple locations so bugs can be fixed with ease

Applied Innovation Management (AIM) has announced the Bug/Defect Tracking Expert 5.0, the first proven, entirely web-based bug tracking and management system. The global, interactive, dynamic nature of the web makes it the ideal platform on which to base a new generation of bug/tracking systems. With the Bug/Defect Tracking Expert 5.0, developers in multiple locations can now access each other's data banks allowing all defect information to be shared, reducing the time and resources required to provide fixes.

"In the past, bugs were typically handled on a case-by-case basis since programmers This is a list of programmers notable for their contributions to software, either as original author or architect, or for later additions.

were separated by geographic and technological boundaries," said Fayez Damra, AIM's Account Executive, Sales and Support. The Bug/Defect Tracking Expert 5.0 is platform independent and accessible from any computer with a standard internet/intranet connection. "Now developers have quick access to shared information about previous bugs and related bugs so they can coordinate fixes. And, managers can have access to an up-to-date work schedule." It records all defects by ticket number in a centralized cen·tral·ize

The Bug/Defect Tracking Expert 5.0 is a bug tracking system (programming) bug tracking system - (BTS) A system for receiving and filing bugs reported against a software project, and tracking those bugs until they are fixed. Most major software projects have their own BTS, the source code of which is often available for use by other projects.  designed for use by development teams to accurately catalogue, organize and rank various product defects reported to the system. It provides technical staff with an automated solution that makes it easy for them to resolve defects, handle requests and provide necessary product enhancements. Quantitative management reports and charts can be generated providing metrics metrics Managed care A popular term for standards by which the quality of a product, service, or outcome of a particular form of Pt management is evaluated. These reports can help measure success and identify areas needing improvement thereby ensuring stringent quality control.

The system's object oriented See object technology and object-oriented programming.  web-engine means The Bug Tracking Expert can be customized to fit most development teams' needs without requiring any additional programming. It offers a variety of configurable communication and notification channels such as e-mail or paging to assigned technical staff based on priority or specialty. It can also be set to alert specified staff members if an issue remains unresolved Not completed; not finished; not linked together. See resolve.  for longer than a specified time period.

The Bug/Defect Tracking Expert is easy to use for both developers and managers since anyone who knows how to use a browser browser

It incorporates a hierarchical display feature similar to Microsoft Explorer(TM) that makes it easy to display information in the system. For example, a manager can display outstanding defects in a hierarchical tree by programmer, by feature and by ticket number.

AIM also offers an optional "Large Object Module" that can be used in conjunction with The Bug/Defect Tracking Expert 5.0 and that allows binary and If two conditions are combined by and, they must both be true for the compound condition to be true as well.
