Applied Food Sciences Issued Patent for Producing Black Tea Rich in Theaflavins.

(TM)) is pleased to announce it is the exclusive licensee of U.S. Patent No. 6,602,527 issued on Aug. 5, 2003. The patent covers a novel process that converts fresh tea leaves, or green tea, into a healthier, antioxidant rich black tea. The result is black tea that is rich in theaflavin antioxidants, which can then be brewed into a beverage or used to produce a potent theaflavin extract.

"Theaflavins have a vast amount of scientific support providing evidence of their health benefits in regards to cholesterol reduction, skin damage protection, and antioxidant capacity to name a few," stated Loretta Zapp, AFS' CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
