) of Salinas, California has contracted with Applied Digital Solutions to implement a network-based telephony solution based on the 3Com's NBX (Network Branch EXchange) A family of IP-based telephony systems from 3Com. The name was derived from "PBX," the traditional name for an enterprise telephone switch.  100 platform.

The network, which will allow the integration of voice, video and data, will enable HIA to vastly improve delivery of services to their clients in Northern California. The NBX will replace older, legacy systems currently in use by HIA.

The 3Com NBX 100 Communications System will form the basis of the new network, integrating both voice and data on the same network. The NBX provides a feature-rich, cost-effective means for growing businesses to consolidate both voice and data on one network infrastructure, delivering improved productivity and seamless scalability.
