Applied Digital Access Announces Termination of Joint Development Agreement With Northern Telecom, Inc. -- ADA to Focus On Its Core Business and Products.

:ADAX) announced today the termination of its joint development agreement with Northern Telecom Inc. (Nortel).

The intellectual property rights associated with the jointly developed technology will become the property of Applied Digital Access Inc. (ADA Ada, city, United States

ADA and Nortel entered into the agreement in September 1997 to develop SONET network products for the telecommunications industry. Under the agreement, ADA and Nortel each contributed technology and development resources to the project conducted under the Agreement and shared the development costs. Nortel will have the right to receive royalties to recoup it portion of the development costs. All of ADA's development costs associated with the joint development have been expensed as incurred.

During this time, ADA intends to substantially reduce expenses associated with the development of SONET products under the Agreement and will explore alternatives for maximizing the value of the technology developed under the agreement.
