Applied Cellular Technology Inc.'s Subsidiary ATI Communications Realizes Revenues of $1.85 Million From an Interconnect Contract With the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

NIXA, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 1997--Applied Cellular Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:ACTC) announced today it's wholly-owned subsidiary ATI Communications has realized revenues of $1.85 million from their contract with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

This contract represents 6% of the projected $30 million that ATI will contribute to Applied Cellular this year. ATI has been providing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with superior and outstanding interconnect-business telephone system and voice mail service for 3 years and 1997 represents the largest contract to date.

ATI Communications was acquired in the third quarter of 1996 by Applied Cellular. Based in Bethel Park, Pa., ATI has over 400 employees in 50 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. The company provides cellular telephones and other wireless services, business telephone systems, voice mail, automated attendant units, long distance and other network services, Internet access, and direct satellite TV services.

ATI's major markets include Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Washington DC, Baltimore and Northern Virginia. The company's management believes it is the largest cellular agent in each of its regions, as well as being the largest dealer of Toshiba and Telrad equipment in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

ATI is expected to bid the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania contract again this fall and is actively pursuing other municipal and state agencies as valued ATI customers.
