Applications sought to fill a comp claims judge opening in Jacksonville.

The Statewide Nominating Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims is now accepting applications to fill a judge of compensation claims opening in the Jacksonville District.

Applications may be obtainied from the Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims' Web site at www.fljcc.org.

An original application must be provided to Victor Marrero, SNCJCC Chair, Director of Risk Management, Broward Sheriff's Office, 2601 West Broward Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale 33312, and written copies provided to each commission member, no later than 5 p.m., EST, June 22. Faxed or e-mailed applications will not be accepted.

The SNCJCC will meet June 29 at 9 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport to interview the prospective candidates for the Jacksonville District position.

If you wish to speak at the commission meeting in opposition to a prospective applicant, notice must be provided in writing to Marrero and each commission member no later than 5 p.m., June 22. The letter should include your intention to address the commission and a brief explanation as to why the commission should not consider the applicant/candidate for the position of judge of compensation claims. If you wish to present any documents in support of your appearance, copies also must be provided to the chair and all commission members in writing by 5 p.m., June 22. The commission will not grant any requests for personal appearances to speak in favor of any of the prospective applicants. However, the commission will accept letters in support of the applicants in lieu of personal appearances.
