Graduating high school seniors can apply to win $1,000 awards toward higher education higher education

Study beyond the level of secondary education. Institutions of higher education include not only colleges and universities but also professional schools in such fields as law, theology, medicine, business, music, and art.

 its 40 years in business, Cub Foods Cub Foods is a grocery store chain with eighty-four stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Northern and Central Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Miami Valley in Ohio. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu.  is awarding 40 high school seniors who plan to continue their education with a total of $40,000 in scholarships to institutions of their choice. The deadline to submit scholarship applications is Feb. 27. Applications can only be found and submitted online at www.cub.com.

Presented by the Cub Cares Community Foundation, which is committed to supporting education, the 40 scholarships, each for $1,000, will be awarded to high school seniors with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale who show dedication in the classroom, provide service to their community and participate in extracurricular activities. Students who are residents of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa or Illinois are eligible to apply. Students must plan to continue their education at an accredited accredited

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America, will review all submitted applications. Scholarships will be awarded in May 2009. Brochures with additional information are available at all Cub Foods customer service counters.
