, Calif., USA & GRENOBLE, France -- Emic Joins Consortium With Goal of Promoting Open Source Adoption in the Enterprise; Reinforces Consortium International Outreach; Appoints ObjectWeb's Chief Architect as Principal Architect of Java Technologies

Emic Networks, the leading provider of clustering solutions for building mission critical applications using open source components, announced today its membership in ObjectWeb, a consortium of companies and research organizations who have joined forces to produce next-generation open source middleware.

Emic provides its clients with integrated application clustering solutions with a specific expertise on LAMP and LAMJ (Linux(TM), Apache, MySQL(R) and PHP/Python/PERL or JSP/J2EE(TM)) stacks. Emic's middleware product offerings are designed to serve the needs of enterprises increasing their adoption of open source for mission critical IT infrastructures and enable them to achieve maximum scalability and reliability while maintaining a fast return on investment.

For more than three years, ObjectWeb has fostered the growth of a business ecosystem where industry stakeholders leverage open-source middleware to create value and run successful business models. Emic's business objective is in keeping with this rationale. On the technical side, ObjectWeb members have a proven track record of effectiveness in the development of industrial grade open source middleware, including JOnAS, a J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) A platform from Sun for building distributed enterprise applications. J2EE services are performed in the middle tier between the user's machine and the enterprise's databases and legacy information systems.  1.4(TM) certified application server. Several ObjectWeb projects, backed by research teams from academia and industry, focus on clustering and grid computing grid computing, the concurrent application of the processing and data storage resources of many computers in a network to a single problem. It also can be used for load balancing as well as high availability by employing multiple computers—typically personal .

"Deployment in production of infrastructure software highly depends on the availability of a wide range of professional service offers and complementary products," said Christophe Ney, executive director, ObjectWeb. "We are delighted to welcome innovative companies such as Emic whose cutting-edge products and professional services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  play a pivotal role in bringing open-source middleware to the heart of the mainstream market."

Emic has also hired Emmanuel Cecchet as principal architect for its clustering solutions that support Java applications. Mr. Cecchet has been serving as ObjectWeb's chief architect for over one year and leads C-JDBC, an ObjectWeb middleware technology for relational database relational database

Prior to joining Emic, he contributed significantly to a Rice University study of scalable, high-performance and highly available e-business servers and carried researches at INRIA INRIA - Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique  (French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control) on open-source middleware for large-scale data servers. Mr. Cecchet has a Ph.D. from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France.

"It is with great pleasure that we announce both our membership in the ObjectWeb Consortium and the appointment of Emmanuel," said Eero Teerikorpi, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "We look forward to helping ObjectWeb increase the adoption and acceptance of open source middleware and develop solutions that enable enterprises to meet their mission critical business objectives."

About ObjectWeb

Founded in 2002 by Bull, France Telecom and INRIA, ObjectWeb is a consortium of leading companies and research organizations from around the world that have joined forces to produce next generation of Open Source Middleware. ObjectWeb's goal is to provide Real-Time Enterprises with independent solutions, which combine quality and robustness at the best possible performance/cost ratio. ObjectWeb targets alternative solutions to proprietary products for e-business, EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) Refers to various techniques used to share data and business processes in large enterprises. When companies acquire another organization, disparate information systems have to be made to work together. , data connectivity, grid computing and enterprise messaging. Based on Open Standards Specifications for hardware and software that are developed by a standards organization or a consortium involved in supporting a standard. Available to the public for developing compliant products, open standards imply "open systems;" that an existing component in a system can be replaced , ObjectWeb's middleware includes application servers, components, frameworks and tools. Examples of ObjectWeb's "cost killer" middleware are JOnAS, an Open Source implementation of the J2EE specification; JORAM Joram (jō`rəm), in the Bible.
