The Safari 3 web browser has been introduced for Windows PCs and Macs by computer company Apple, with a public beta version available for free download from http://www.apple.com/safari, with the final version to be available free of charge in October.

Apple said that Safari is the fastest browser running on Windows, rendering pages up to twice as fast as Microsoft Internet Explorer See Internet Explorer.  7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Mozilla Firefox 2. The new Safari 3 version offers an intuitive user interface, SnapBack one-click access to an initial search enquiry, browsing with tabs, a built-in RSS reader, private browsing, resizable text fields and easy-to-manage bookmarks.

According to Apple, Safari 3 supports current Internet standards such as HTML HTML
 in full HyperText Markup Language

Markup language derived from SGML that is used to prepare hypertext documents. Relatively easy for nonprogrammers to master, HTML is the language used for documents on the World Wide Web.
, JavaScript, Java, SVG and CSS and provides software updates through the company's Software Update application, which checks for updates automatically.

The Safari 3 is suitable for any Intel-based Mac or Mac with a PowerPC G5, G4 or G3 processor and built-in FireWire, with system requirements for Mac OS X including Mac OS X Tiger See Tiger and Mac OS X.  10.4.9 or later and a minimum 256MB memory. Safari 3 for Windows requires a system with at least 500MHz Intel Pentium processor, Windows XP or Windows Vista and a minimum 256MB memory.
