ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Appistry, the pioneer and leading provider of application fabric software, today announced that Founder and Chief Strategist Bob Lozano has been selected to present at this year's GridWorld conference. Lozano will moderate a panel exploring the convergence of grid and virtualization An umbrella term for enhancing a computer's ability to do work. Following are the ways virtualization is used.

in IT. Together, these technologies enable a new world of "real-time" IT infrastructure, which offers great promise to the enterprise, coupling the scalability benefits of grid computing grid computing, the concurrent application of the processing and data storage resources of many computers in a network to a single problem. It also can be used for load balancing as well as high availability by employing multiple computers—typically personal  with the operational and development benefits of virtualization.

"If you consider the staggering amount of data available to today's enterprise, it becomes clear that its competitiveness depends on the ability to turn that data into meaningful decisions and insights, which in turn allow it to create better products, identify new opportunities and better serve customers," said Lozano. "Together, grid and virtualization enable this competitiveness by making processing power less expensive to purchase and operate."

Appistry is one of a cadre of emerging firms that have been driving the convergence of grid computing and virtualization with its application fabric software. Application fabric software, such as Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric (Appistry EAF EAF - Effort Adjustment Factor ), provides 'scale-out' virtualization, which enables enterprises to dramatically simplify the task of deploying, managing and developing large-scale, time-critical applications.

Lozano will deliver his presentation on Wednesday, September 13 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. GridWorld 2006 will be held at the Washington Convention Center The Washington Convention Center has been the name of two convention centers in Washington, D.C.
