Appeal over pop star fine.


THE US Supreme Court last night ordered a Federal appeals court to re-examine its ruling in favour of CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  in a legal fight over entertainer Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction.

The high court directed the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia to consider reinstating the pounds 367,000 fine that the Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  imposed on CBS over Jackson's performance at the 2004 Super Bowl football championship.

The order follows the high court ruling last week that narrowly upheld the FCC's policy threatening fines against curse words on live television..
