Appeal for witnesses after fight on Metro.


TWO men were left with head injuries after a fight on a Metro train.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the bust-up, which began on a train and continued on a platform.

The incident happened last Saturday when a group of men and women were travelling from Newcastle city centre to North Shields Coordinates:

North Shields (or locally just Shields) is a town on the north bank of the River Tyne, in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside, in North East England. It is located eight miles (13 km) east of Newcastle upon Tyne.
. An altercation broke out on the train between the group and two other male passengers, at around 10.20pm, as the train pulled into Meadow Well Metro Station, in North Shields.

The two men were allegedly assaulted and left with head injuries. The alleged offenders got off the train at Meadow Well. Police attended and three people were arrested.

However, PC Ian Moss, of Northumbria Police Northumbria Police is the Home Office police force responsible for policing the areas of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear in England. The service is the sixth largest police constabulary in England or Wales. As of April 2005, the current Chief Constable is Mike Craik.  would still like to hear from witnesses.

The officer is urging anyone who was on the train, or the platform at the time to get in touch.

Two men, aged 23 and 25, and a woman, aged 17, were due to appear before North Tyneside Magistrates today, charged with affray A criminal offense generally defined as the fighting of two or more persons in a public place that disturbs others.

The offense originated under the Common Law and in some jurisdictions has become a statutory crime.
