) announced today that its Sierra Fixture & Design division has entered into an agreement with Winpoint Retail Consulting Services, Inc. to be the primary provider of 550 of Winpoint's Smart Pavilions through the year 2000, for a total consideration of $5 million. Installations will be made in shopping malls and retail establishments throughout the United States with the first installations scheduled for the Santa Monica Place Santa Monica Place is a three-story, 570,000 square-foot shopping mall in Santa Monica, California. The mall is located at the south end of the famous Third Street Promenade, and is also two blocks from the Santa Monica Pier and the beach.  Mall in Santa Monica, CA and the Columbia Mall in Columbia, MD.

Its award winning Smart Pavilion system, in partnership with major retail developers, offers shoppers free internet service An ISP that provides access to the Internet without charge to the user. Each Pavilion, which sits in the center court of a mall, has four sides featuring touch screen displays allowing shoppers to find directions to stores, view online catalogues, access coupons and play games. The Pavilions also have several televisions that show commercials for products and services available in the mall. Shoppers may also access the systems outside of the mall via the internet from their personal computers and are given an opportunity to shop at their local malls with local delivery in as little as one hour.

The Sierra Fixture & Design unit of Apparel Technologies, Inc. designs, markets and installs fixtures used in retail stores, malls and mall service operations. Sierra's fixtures include temporary retail units, kiosks, carts and marketing directories, many of them incorporating state-of-the art electronics, debit card debit card, card that allows the cost of goods or services that are purchased to be deducted directly from the purchaser's checking account.
