AppWorx Corporation, the enterprise process management company, and Unisys Corporation today announced that they have established a reseller agreement through which Unisys will package the AppWorx solution as part of the Unisys e-@ction Customer Loyalty System (CLS).

Unisys CLS, the airline industry's leading loyalty system, increases the revenue potential for frequent flyer programs by managing information on customer travel patterns, preferences, interests and other factors, allowing marketers to create highly targeted promotional offers for the airlines' most valuable customers. In its latest release, CLS includes AppWorx to automate and coordinate all of the essential CLS batch processing, including the critical feeds between CLS and travel service partner systems.

AppWorx sets up and automates policies based on the priorities of the business, the specific times that processes need to run, and available system resources. It then launches events in the correct sequence to fulfill business priorities. Within CLS for example, if an airline passenger rents a car from Hertz and is awarded 500 points, AppWorx controls the standard processes that update the database to record award information in the customer's frequent flyer plan.

Integration of the AppWorx product with CLS eliminates the final barrier to the general availability of CLS on the Microsoft Windows NT platform, Curtin explained. "Further, the AppWorx product provides the ability to automate within the CLS environment many of the features that previously had to be implemented by code within the application."

Because CLS can be deployed on a wide variety of computer systems, Unisys formerly had to develop and maintain multiple sets of scripts to run each set of batch processes. The AppWorx technology has enabled Unisys to create a single set of templates for business processes.

The templates are easily exported to any of the multitude of Windows NT and Unix system environments supported by CLS. This process dramatically speeds up development and implementation while reducing the potential for errors. AppWorx confirms the arrival of incoming files, determines the order of events within a process and automatically launches them sequentially, eliminating some of the manual processes that were previously required.
