Apology over missed rubbish.

COUNCIL chiefs have apologised for the piles of rubbish which were missed when a new refuse collection scheme was launched in Warwickshire.

Bosses at Warwick District Council have reassured residents who complained in yesterday's Telegraph about missed collection days and undelivered wheelie bins.

A spokesman for the council said: "We apologise for the problems a number of our customers are experiencing. We are doing all we can to rectify matters as soon as possible. Mistakes were clearly made with regards to a number of streets on the Chase Meadow estate, and we apologise for this. Their refuse has been collected and leaflets about the scheme delivered by hand."

It was also revealed that from Monday, residents were welcome to collect red recycling boxes, recycling bags, and food caddies, from the council's HQ at Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Leamington.

The service will be available from 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile householders have been urged not to use black bin bags instead of the grey and green wheelie bins or the red recycling boxes provided.

Residents were also reminded that waste should be put out at the front of their properties by 7am.
