Apology from big two.


TOP Tories Liam Fox and George Osborne apologised yesterday as the fallout from the Westminster expenses scandal spread.

Shadow defence spokesman Fox told the Scots party conference in Perth: "The abuse by some of MPs' allowances has dominated politics and caused anxiety and anger among those who want to see a healthy democratic system." Shadow chancellor Osborne said :"I don't excuse the scandal of the MPs' expenses - I apologise for it." He claimed the Tories would sort the mess out.

Referring to the economic crisis, he warned the "age of irresponsibility is giving way to the age of austerity".

He warned that Scotland would have to take its share of the pain of the recovery.

Failing He claimed:"Every need of every part of the UK must be fairly assessed." Fox also claimed the Government were letting down the armed forces by failing to provide proper equipment on time and in working order.

He said a Conservative government would order a defence review to establish the county's defence needs.
