Apollo Gold Appoints Melvyn Williams as Chief Financial Officer.

DENVER -- Apollo Gold Corporation ("Apollo" or the "Company") (TSX: APG)(AMEX: AGT) announces the appointment of Mr. Melvyn Williams as the Company's Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Williams will also continue as a Senior Vice President for Apollo Gold. Mr. Williams has over 25 years of experience in the mining and mining finance industries.

Apollo Gold would also like to announce the appointment of Mr. James T. O'Neil as Vice President of Finance. Mr. O'Neil is currently the Company's Vice President of Internal Audit & Risk Management. Mr. O'Neil has over 30 years of experience ranging from mine site management to Vice President of Finance with ASARCO and GRUPO Mexico.

Mr. Llee Chapman, the Company's former Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance has tendered his resignation effective at the end of the first quarter of 2005, to pursue other business interests.
