Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1.
("ICs"), today introduced three new mini package DDX DDx

abbreviation for differential diagnosis; used in medical records.
(R) power device ICs that reduce the space occupied on a printed circuit board by 50%. The new ICs enable audio manufacturers to maximize power in compact products while lowering cost.

The DDX-2052, DDX-2062 and DDX-2102 DDX power devices, which use the new mini power package, support audio applications from 10 to 65 Watts per channel. These high efficiency devices operate seamlessly with Apogee's full-line of DDX Controller ICs and include robust circuit protection that has made DDX power ICs a leading digital audio solution.

John Gitelman, Director of Marketing at Apogee, stated, "Our new mini package DDX Power Devices enable manufacturers to meet consumer demand for products with greater power and smaller size. The DDX Power Device family now consists of 11 all-digital, high efficiency power ICs to meet a wide range of audio applications. With the introduction of these new power devices, Apogee is on track to introduce 23 new ICs this year to meet the growing demand for our DDX solutions."

Details and Delivery

The DDX-2052 and DDX-2062 ICs are available with the thermal pad Thermal pads or ground pads are thin, lightweight pads that are common among hikers, backpackers and budget travelers. In its simplest form a thermal pad consists of a foam-like material that is about half a centimetre thick (about a quarter of an inch).  down or slug down (PSS See EPSS. 036) package. The DDX-2102 is available with the thermal pad up or slug up (PSS036SU) package. The dimensions of the PSS036 and PSS036SU packages including leads are 10mm x 10mm. The IC layouts are pin-for-pin compatible with the existing DDX-2050, DDX-2060 and DDX-2100 Power Devices. Engineering samples are available now. Production quantities as well as evaluation boards are expected by the end of September 2004.

About Apogee Technology, Inc.

Apogee Technology, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab.  that designs, develops and markets silicon based products that incorporate proprietary technology. The Company's patented all-digital, high efficiency Direct Digital Amplification (DDX(R)) ICs have been used by over 20 major consumer electronic brands in a wide range of audio products. The Company is developing new System-on-Chip (SOC) products using its analog and digital circuit designs and Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers. In the research labs since the 1980s, MEMS devices began to materialize as commercial products in the mid-1990s. ) technology for the consumer, automotive, communications and medical markets.
